To experience really good health, vitality and energy you need to look after your key bodily systems.

You need a strong and healthy immune system, cardio/respiratory system, lymphatic system, musco-skeletal system and perhaps most importantly of all, a strong and healthy digestive system.

These weaken if your lifestyle includes a poor diet, inadequate exercise, smoking, alcohol, household chemicals, un-managed stress and medication.

The Restore Your Body Programme is all about making lifestyle practices that care for the health of your body.

You can do this through a variety of mind, body and nutritional practices, but there are a few other things you may not have thought of….

…the 9 points below are easy to implement and fit nicely
into the daily life category of the programme.

I personally do these pretty much everyday!

(Please see links for further reading).

As always, with any of my reading blogs,
relax your eyes and sit with a relaxed yet good alignment.
If you’re eyes feel strained, make a cup of tea and come back in 20 minutes!

9 Daily Practices that support your Health

Count how many you did yesterday?

1 Take a walk in nature – Walking in nature is a very primal practice. It takes you away from buildings that have heating, lighting, wifi, work, noise and stress.

Simply step outside in your local park, riverside walk, beach etc and remove yourself from those health zapping qualities. This includes leaving your phone in your car/office or setting it to flight safe mode.

Try to spend at least 30 minutes outside everyday. Longer if time allows and on your days off.

Best is to be barefoot, breathing lightly and allowing
your senses to experience the sounds and colours of nature.

2  Earthing/Grounding – The earth is naturally rich in negatively charged free electrons. Why is this important to your health?  Because your body can literally absorb these electrons and they help reduce the positively charged free radicals that damage your health and increase ageing.

It’s time to step outside…barefoot!

These health boosting electrons are actually inflammatory busting antioxidants (higher levels even than goji berries)! They are especially active after a thunder storm or near waterfalls/ocean spray. (Lots of links below for further reading).

To start the day, I like to ‘earth‘ first thing in the morning. The grass is dewey and if the sun is low enough I do a little sun gazing (although that is best off grass).

Also it depends on your climate, I don’t tend to earth below 55F degrees….so it’s not an option in a UK winter. See link below about indoor earthing products.

I walk the dog everyday and regularly remove my shoes for this. I also cut the grass and do gardening with bare feet. If you don’t like the idea of getting dirty feet, there are many indoor earthing products that can help boost your health…but it’s worth a try.

You can also ‘earth’ in sand or soil. Gardening without gloves is great as you get up close and personal with the amazing powers of dirt. It’s the opposite of using antibacterial products that can actually weaken your health. (see point 10 for more on this).

Indoor ‘earthing’ products are especially important around your computer/TV to balance your exposure to the electromagnetic fields that are emitted. (I also have a salt lamp next to my computer screen to help with this problem). It’s the same with many other electronic devices. Click first link below for more info.

3 Eat a vegetable/salad based diet – Something like 65% of my diet comes from vegetables (mostly raw) and salad. The other 35% is from healthy powershakes (recipe to follow soon), eggs, local organic grass-fed meats and homemade grain free raw chocolate cakes and cookies.

I have written before about the basics of healthy eating. (All blogs from the ‘healthy eating’ category of the programme here).

All the current research and experts in the field of health keep pointing to a diet that is low in carbohydrate and high vegetables, healthy fats with moderate consumption of high grade protein.

Below is my typical lunch (home fermented sauerkraut (for good gut health),
sliced veg, salad leaves and sprouted beans).
If I’m looking to eat a larger meal, I often include avocados, cheese, chicken or tempeh.

4 – Dry skin brush – Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Look after it by detoxifying with a dry skin brush before you take a shower, or at any time.  You will feel fabulous after.

Skin brushing also helps shed dead skin, increase circulation and it stimulates your lymphatic system.

Also, avoid putting any lotions on you skin that have chemicals/perfumes. Just use things you would eat, like coconut oil!

5 Present Moment Awareness – Stress quickly depletes your vitamins and minerals. It occurs when something other than what you want to happen is happening.

When you feel tension arise, relax and breathe. Observe your sensations rather than reacting too quickly with a snappy comment or body tension.

Try to see the moment as it is without loading the situation from past experiences. Click on the link below for 10 tips of dealing with stress.

You can also go to sleep or wake up listening to mind relaxation music  – I have a couple of guided relaxation audios on the ‘mind and relaxation’ category on the blog page, but there are thousands of free audios you can find online.

I personally like to listen to brain enhancement music on headphones. Good examples are ‘holosync’, ‘attained vibrations’ or any mellow yogic chanting music.

6 Turn your wifi off regularly – Better still install a router with an ethernet cable (like we did a few years back).  If you do use wifi, at least turn it off when not being used and definitely at night.

There have been many studies linking the use of wifi an ill health. Children are even more susceptible.

Your mobile phone/tablet/lap top should be well away from your body at night or simply them off or to flight safe mode.

7 Drink plenty of water – Water helps maintain your body’s fluid balance. It hydrates your tissues (think of an unwatered plant shrivelling, but then springing back to life when watered).

Water also aids your digestion and transports vital nutrients around your body. It helps cleanse your organs, give you more energy, a clearer mind and it aids weight loss (most of the time you feel hungry, you are probably thirsty – drink a large glass of water and then decide if you need to eat).

On the flip side, drinking your calories has never supported health. Fruit juice of any kind, including so called healthy smoothies and all fizzy drinks should be permanently avoided.

If you need some liquid flavour, drink an occasional cup of tea or coffee and unlimited amounts of herbal tea. However try to avoid milk and sugar. Instead, blend your hot drink with organic fed butter from grass fed cows, coconut oil and 1 or 2 drops of stevia.

8 Take regular exercise – The Restore Your Body Programme is largely an exercise programme. The benefits of exercise are too numerous to mention. Just train, then trust!

Be sure to include cardio, strength and flexibility on a weekly basis.

The video and write up on this page explain the whole programme.

9 Ditch the chemicals – Your kitchen cupboard and bathroom cabinet maybe full of cleaning products…but are they safe for your health? And do you need to sanitise your hands every 5 minutes? Important links below about dirt.

Fortunately, nature has provided us with an abundance of natural cleaning products, such as vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda. And for things like laundry detergent, check out eco versions such as Bio D:

These 9 points are not an exhaustive list. If you have more ideas to share, please leave a comment below.

Thanks for reading.

Take care and stay healthy.
