Please enjoy my version of the best exercise to ever do while seated! It’s called seated arcing and is from Judith Aston of Aston Kinetics. Judith was my movement teacher from 2000 to 2006 and to this day, her trainings still influence how I move and everything I teach.
This one exercise allows you to sit for long periods without tension, has numerous postural benefits and helps you find a healthy and comfortable spine.
In Pilates we are often seeking a neutral spine, but a more descriptive term could be natural spine. When you find optimal alignment, it is not a position to hold, or grip or another thing you have to remember. This just creates more tension.
The alignment that seated arcing brings, offers you full freedom to move in a flowing and natural way around your space.
