Strength training is a fundamental part of a healthy lifestyle.

On my Restore Your Body Programme, it involves a once a week commitment, but what isĀ strength training?

It is a form of exercise that uses weight bearing or resistance equipment to exert pressure on your muscles, bones and connective tissues.

This pressure causes a microscopic breakdown of these tissues, that subsequently repair stronger. A healthy diet and relaxation are important factors with this repair phase.

In a previous blog I wrote this list about why we do strength training…

  • Build new muscles
  • Maintain muscle tone
  • Vital as part of a weight loss programme
  • Multiple health benefits/disease prevention
  • Bone strength
  • Injury prevention
  • Enhanced postural alignment
  • Improvement in sports performance
  • Stress reduction and mood enhancer
  • Feeling empowered

However that’s not a full list and studies now show that this sort of exercise increases the health of your brain (see below for links).

Click on the video below and get stronger and smarter!Ā

Take Care

Thanks Danny
