As part of the restore your body programme, I recommend taking time out at least twice a week and consciously relaxing. It is one of four key factors that assist us on the journey of feeling healthy, vibrant and alive. These are:

  • Great nutrition
  • Varied and balanced exercise
  • Hanging out with cool people
  • Managing stress – Taking time out to relax

 

The first point is most obvious.  Eating the right foods and at the right time has a massive impact on how well we function.   Then of course there is exercise.  Enjoying a balanced and varied weekly schedule that addresses all areas of fitness.  Another key factor concerns the people we spend time with.  Where possible work and socialise with those who interest and stimulate you in a positive way…people that you admire and people who care and listen.

The last factor on this list is about stress.  In small doses, stress can help us to grow and develop on many levels.  However, high levels of stress that are unmanaged can affect our physical and mental health.  There are many techniques that can help deal with stress, one of them being relaxation.  We can spend hours and hours in a stressful state yet not even find a few minutes to stop and relax.  I am referring to mindful relaxation and this doesn’t include watching TV with a bottle of wine!

Conscious relaxation is be deeply rewarding and something I recommend as a regular practice (even daily).  Please click on the video below to hear a guided 15 minute relaxation audio.  You can try it every day and even create your own imagery for relaxation.  After relaxing you will return to life more alive and productive.
