To improve your balance you need to practice standing on one leg…something you do every step you take. As soon as you lift a leg up, you are exercising your weight bearing ankle, knee and hip and also muscles in your lower back.

When done slowly, and for several seconds, this can be quite a challenge.

This week’s video offers that challenge…a simple and slow one leg movement that will:

  • Weight bear your skeleton for bone health
  • Tone leg and core muscles as you gracefully move through space
  • Challenge and enhance balance and therefore confidence

In terms of the Restore Your Body Programme, this kind of exercise falls into the category of strength. However, in this case it’s not the large muscles we are seeking to train.

Balance exercises challenge and enhance the more subtle side of strength. It’s a more refined experience that helps tone core muscles and connective tissues around leg joints.

The effort is increased if you have a soft mat underfoot.  Try it today and enjoy the above benefits.

Take care
